Interior Handle Required
Welcoming and warm, the Gibson features a soft, oval design - a pleasing
addition to any entrance door. Latchbolt operated by thumbpiece outside
and grip inside, except when both are locked by key outside or turnbutton
inside. Deadbolt operated by key outside or thumbturn inside.
Equipped with the new SmartKey technology, this handleset is the perfect choice
to protect your home or business.
- Bumpguard: Patented side locking bar technology replaces a traditions pin
& tumbler design to protect against lock bumping.
- Key it Yourself: Lock is rekeyable by using the included learn tool in less
than 30 seconds without removing the lock from the door.
- Drill Resistance: Cylinder uses two steel balls inserted into the front of
the key face to resist attack from drilling.
- Superior security - ANSI Grade-1 deadbolt rating
- Solid Forged Brass
- Smart Key Cylinders are 5-pin, and will not key alike to 6-pin cylinders.

"I purchased this lock after having another Kwikset lock for 5 years. It suddenly fell apart, not the bolt, but the rest so we were left with a partial lock. Went to the store to purchase just the bottom half but had to purchase a new system so it would match. Unfortunately this continues when I tried to put in the lock in our steel door and it did not match up with the new one. SO we spent more money and time, called a locksmith to finish the job, then if we had gotten a different quality of lock.The directions were backwards for most of the installation. The new lock was jammed even tho never used,so we had to use parts from the old system. Lookin' good does not mean it is good.Be careful."

"The Handleset is exactly what we were looking for; a handle with an extra key cylinder for our protection. Customer services was very helpful and knowledgeable. The only set back is that we asked for the keys on cylinders to be different and instead both cylinders came using the same key. Fortunately the smartkey feature allowed us to repin the key from the cylinder we were replace in a few simple set. We have already recommended this handleset to our neighbor."

Does this have a turn lock on the inside for both the deadbolt and the bottom latch?
A. The Gibson is a 2 point lock and does have a turn lock on the interior for the deadbolt as well as the bottom latch.

Does this fixture have a turn lock on the inside for both the deadbolt and the latch seperately? Also do you have this style with a lever on the inside?
A. The Gibson is a 2 point lock and there's a thumb turn on the interior for the deadbolt as well as the bottom latch. The following lever styles are compatible with the Gibson: Brooklane, Commonwealth, Delta, Dorian, Lido, Tustin.

How do I determine what latch type I need?
A. Most residential doors are mortised for either round or square corner latches. On the side of your door, the faceplate covers the latch. This plate will either have square or round corners. Drive in latches do not have faceplates and are generally used for hollow doors.

What kind of door knob is on the interior side of this lock?
A. There are numerous options with the interior pack. you can have anywhere from a knob, to a left handed lever, right handed lever and in different styles. It will prompt you to them once you pick out your handleset.

A. We do offer the Kwikset 554GN-LIP-S Maximum Series Gibson Double Cylinder. You can special order this with a interior handleset from the single cylinder 986 series instead of the double cylinder 987 series.

A. The dummy version of the Kwikset 553GN-LIP-S is Kwikset model number 555GN-LIP. People generally purchase this for the non-functioning French Door at their entrance.
