Changing Codes

"I do like this lock very much. I have other auto locks in my home, but this one is by far the easiest to program. I did have trouble figuring out how to CHANGE an existing code as it wasn't clear in the Installation Guide. Changing a code merely means that you program right over it. In other lock systems like this, you have to enter the existing pass code first and then change it. That is not necessary with this one and you just program right over the old one."

"I've been looking forward to installing this deadbolt because it will allow me to let friends and family into my home while I'm away without leaving a key outside for them. This item is exactly what I expected. The interior piece is a bit bulky, but it looks okay. Despite being plastic, the interior pieces match other metal components quite well (mine is satin nickel). The instructions are sufficiently detailed for a novice to perform the installation. My only complaint, and the reason I gave four stars, is that the deadbolt rattles when the door is closed, opened, locked, and unlocked. While this does not affect the function of the item, I would prefer a more solid construction. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase."

"We bought the Kwikset 909 Smartcode for our main door and so far it works great. The kids do not have to carry keys and risk loosing them. You do not need a key to lock it from the outside, you just push a button and the deadbolt engages."

"The locks were easy to install and provide us with the easy flexibility to lock the house and feel safe. It's nice that we can provide the codes to family and friends as needed and yet the ability to change it as frequently as we like. It seems a bit pricey but it's a great value for our needs. "After a year's use, the lock motor makes three full rotations to open or close the lock, and the inside lever does not align despite the alignment procedures in the manual. When the plastic parts are removed from the back of he door, it works fine. Something in the cheap plastic used in the motor mechanism is broken.
The concept, however, is a great one."

Great Locks... I think

"Have had this lock on my front door for a month now. Works fine. Only concern I have is that over time, will the numbers where down or get dirty. If this happens, someone might be able to figure out what numbers are used. Nice thing is that after a few wrong attempts the lock forces a waiting period. I keep the front door well lighted at night and someone attempting to break in would unlikely spend a lot of time there. I also love the smart key feature. Didn't have to change my key for this new lock!"

"I was tired of going to the neighbors to get my spare key, so this lock
was the solution. All my other locks are Kwikset and keyed alike. It
was easy to rekey the lock to work off the same key as the other locks,
and it was much easier to program than I expected. The contractor doing
the front door remodel was amazed with how easy it was to do also.
Definitely my choice for for future lock replacements."

The touch pad numbers are not individual, each pad has an odd number and an even number. How do I use an even number in my code?

How do you change the batteries?
A. The Kwikset 909 features an easy change battery case. You can easily change the batteries by sliding the interior cover up and off, then pulling out the battery case.
