This double cylinder deadbolt, equipped with the new Smart Key technology, is the perfect way to protect your home or business. The deadbolt is locked/unlocked with a key on both sides.Bumpguard: Patented side locking bar technology replaces a traditions pin & tumbler design to protect against lock bumping.

  • Key it Yourself: Lock is rekeyable by using the included learn tool in less than 30 seconds without removing the lock from the door.
  • Drill Resistance: Cylinder uses two steel balls inserted into the front of the key face to resist attack from drilling.
  • Superior security - ANSI Grade-1 deadbolt rating
  • Smart Key Cylinders are 5-pin, and will not key alike to 6-pin cylinders.

"I installed 4 deadbolts as part of a 39 lockset/ knob upgrade to my older home. I chose Kwikset because of the appearance and ease of installation. I also like the smart key feature. I had to use a jig and hole saw to recut the cross bore holes in the doors from 1 1/2 inches to 2 1/8 inches. The locks installed easily and look very good. However, Handlesets offers the option of ordering deadbolt locks with a round latch plate instead of a square plate. They shipped the locks wilth bright brass latches instead of Venetian Bronze. Since I had cut the holes before I noticed, I had to install the locks (couldn't reinstall the old ones). My wife says they don't match and wants them replaced. I can't believe someone at either Kwikset or Handlesets didn't notice the difference between dark colored Venetian Bronze and bright brass! Other than this problem, the hardware looks and works great. Maybe we can get used to the mismatched latches (not likely). Otherwise, I will have to ask Handlesets to ship new ones before I return the ones I have installed. I recommend opening every box and inspecting all parts before starting installation. Next, I may have to start reading instructions before I run into a problem."

"Easy for a home handyman type to install. Smartkey works great. The lock is very smooth in operation. Much sturdier and has more security features that the older deadbolts."

I purchased a Hawthorne x Juno Knowb handleset sngl cyl. It needs to be a double cylinder which Lowes does not stock. How can I get what I need?

Can I use the key from an existing lock with the smartkey version?

A. Yes, you are able to re key the smart key to a key you already have. Although, it will only work with keys that are compatible with Kwikset keyways.
