"I installed this lock on the door leading from my garage into my basement several years ago. Last week in going from the basement to the garage I closed the door. At that moment I realized that I had locked the door the night before. No one was home and there was no spare key in the garage. I worked for over one hour to break the lock and it never broke. The glass in the door was special and could not be broken. So I had to wait until someone came home."

"The handles look great. Very easy to install. The only problem we have is it is easy to lock yourself out. The handle opens from the inside even when locked. There have been several instances walking outside to check weather that someone locked themselves out."

Is it possoble to have a different finish for the outside and the inside part?

A. Schlage Levers can be ordered with one finish on the exterior and another finish on the interior. This is called a "split finish" item. In order to do so, we would need place a special order for you. Contact customer service at (888) 649-0865 and we can get this done for you!

How do you tell whether you need a LH or RH handle?

A. To determine the handing of a door, stand on the outside of the room you are going to enter. If the hinges are on the left hand side of the door, you need a left handed handle. If the hinges are on the right hand side, you need a right handed handle.
