Keyed Entry lever sets can be locked and unlocked from the exterior using a key. The interior portion can be locked by a push button on the interior rosette. These are generally used on garage doors or doors that can be accessed by the exterior of the house.

A great buy
The Carlow series is a great value; the lock sets are sturdy, look almost hand cast and the mechanisms are smooth. They look great in a refined, rustic way. The only possible downside is in the installation; the instructions aren't all that detailed, but if you've installed a lockset before, it should be straightforward. Since we have installed a set from this series before, I gave it 5 stars (no issue for us in the installation). If you haven't installed a lockset before, I'd give it 4 stars & it will take a few minutes more to figure out the exact installation.

You need to stand on the outside of the door. Which way it swings does not matter unless you are getting a mortise lock for it. Whatever side the hinges are on from the exterior is the handing.
